Her 18,000 mile ride will take her across 14 countries and 4 continents. She'll be spending up to 16 hours in the saddle every day to hit her target of 180 miles per day, and beat the record by a projected 34 days. It's an ultra-distance effort that will test her mile after mile; country after country, and we'll be following her for the duration.

The finish line awaits, as Jenny closes in on Berlin to break the world record
Jenny is fast appproaching the end of her 18,000 mile (28,968 km) ride around the world, with current predictions estimating that she'll finish in Berlin at some point on Thursday 18th October. If correct, it will put her time at 124 days - enough to break the record by 20 days.
After starting from Berlin in June, Jenny's world record attempt has taken her across Siberia, Australia, North America, and Europe. After arriving in Lisbon last Friday, 5th October, she's ridden through Portugal, north across Spain, and over the Pyrenees into France. Picking up fellow Adventure Syndicateer Lee Craigie for photos and bivi spot stalking on the way, Jenny then swiftly made it across France and into the Benelux early this week.

As she wakes up just outside of Leopoldsburg in the Netherlands this morning (Tuesday 16th), she'll have around 700km left to Berlin, where much celebration and congratulations awaits.

Jenny has made it back to Europe, and with almost 17,000 miles on the ticker, is truly entering the last phase of her around the world adventure now.
After a herculean effort last week, which took her across the last of Canada and onto the plane for Lisbon, Jenny arrived in Europe late on Friday evening. Since then, she's already managed to push on through Portugal and has started to make her way up through Spain.

But it's not all plane sailing: a broken gear cable is the just latest in a frustrating sequence of mechanicals that, combined with over 100 days of back-to-back big days in the saddle, are taking their toll.
But none of this is going to wipe the smile off Jenny's face, as the race for the finish line in Berlin is now very much on.
At the time of writing (08/10/18), Jenny has 1,200 miles left, and has been out on the road for 114 days. That means she's averaged 147 miles a day for the previous 16,800 miles; a number that would put her estimated arrival time at 8 days from now.
If the estimates are roughly correct, Jenny stands to complete her around the world ride in 122 days, and smash the preceding record by 22 days.
Go Jenny!

Adventure Syndicate Update #8
As Jenny makes her way ever-eastwards, we'll be bringing updates from the people behind the scenes of the attempt: The Adventure Syndicate.
- Current location: Minot, North Dakota, USA
- Miles covered so far: 13,897
- Estimated miles to go: 4,130
Jenny has hit the prairies of North America, and it's as flat as a pancake, meaning there's no hiding from the elements. As a result, progress is proving painfully slow, with Jenny recording an average speed of just 12kmph - well below her typical riding speed - as she fought fierce headwinds yesterday.
In order to try and limit the effect of the wind, Jenny has chosen to part ways with her planned route through North Dakota in order to tack sideways into the wind, thus avoiding the worst of it.
The fields golden corn fields dancing around in the wind all day do make for a pretty nice view though, Jenny reports, and provide at least some distraction from the never-ending headwind. The storms that Jenny's been witnessing, while equally impressive, have been another obstacle for her to overcome - this time by hiding in bushes.
So, fingers crossed that the winds and storms subside, but on a positive note: we are now into America for the second time, after departing Alaska a few days ago. From here, Jenny will snake back into Canada around the Great Lakes, and continue on to the eastern seaboard in Nova Scotia.

This week has unfortunately brought a raft of mechanicals for Jenny, with holes in her shoes, broken cleats, snapped gear cables, and worst of all a smashed up bottom bracket! But she's managed to get it all bodged together with ducktape, grease, and a hot-foot straight to Edmonton, Canada, in search of a bigger bike shop.
It's still possible that Jenny will encounter bears out here, but the chances of a really close encounter are now shrinking with every pedal stroke... thank goodness!

As she pedals her way around the world, Jenny is (very impressively) managing to find the time - and headspace - to record her experiences for BBC Radio Scotland.

Jenny is deep into Canada now, and you know what that means...Bear country! But she’s well prepared, with a medley of bells, whistles and plenty of bear spray just in case.
With over 12K miles now covered, Jenny's bike has taken a bit of battering, clocking up: 18 punctures 3 rear tyres 2 front tyres 2 sets of brake pads 4 chains 2 water bottle cages and 2 water bottles..
But she's chasing down the miles and heading into British Columbia imminently.
