Time arrived for the second pair of competitors and the walk was over. Osvaldo Garcia & Juan Pablo Hernández put up a fight and, at their own pace, managed to cross the finish line at 12:40 p.m. (local time), completing the course in 83 hours 40 minutes. They easily competed with the pairs behind them, and for the purposes of competitive comparison with the first-place pairs, the difference of 20 hours they achieved was quite significant.

El tiempo llegó para la segunda pareja de competidores y el caminó terminó, Osvaldo Garcia & Juan Pablo Hernández dieron su pelea y a su ritmo logrando cruzar la meta a las 12:40 del mediodía (hora local) cumpliendo el recorrido en 83 hrs 40 mins.
Lucharon fácilmente con las Duplas que venían detrás de ellos y con fines de comparación competitiva con el primer lugar de duplas, fue bastante marcada la diferencia  de 20 horas que lograron.

The second duo arrived / La segunda dupla llegó

The women cyclists are battling for first place, pedaling at full speed along the Oaxacan coast!
[Edna](https://www.instagram.com/edna_glez_g/ "Insta de Edna") leads by just 10 km, and [Zaira](https://www.instagram.com/zairaross/ "Insta de Zaira") is chasing her, pushing hard with high wattage and eager to defend her crown.
Both competitors have extensive competitive experience, and this is where the fruits of their careers as cyclists will be seen, always adding to the individual effort each of them has put in in this Infierno del Sur, where Zaira has more experience but both are veterans in this race.
We'll soon find out the outcome of this women's event.

Las ciclistas están luchando el primer lugar pedaleando a toda velocidad en la costa oaxaqueña! Edna en la delantera por tan solo 10 km y detrás de ella en modo persecución Zaira apretando con muchos watts y ganas de defender su corona.
Las dos competidoras tienen mucha experiencia competitiva y aquí es donde se verán los frutos de su trayectoria como ciclistas, sumando siempre el esfuerzo particular que han hecho cada una en este Infierno del Sur, donde Zaira tiene más experiencia pero ambas son veteranas en ésta carrera.

El desenlace en muy poco tiempo donde sabremos que resultó de este evento femenil.

Day 3 ends and Edna, maintaining a good pace, reaches CP5 Casa Toronjiles, Zaira is on the descent from Buenavista to Independencia (you can sleep at the municipal agency) and Paola is on the tough climb of Vergel, many runners will never forget that climb.

In the doubles category, Osvaldo and Juan Pablo are about to summit the Ixtlayutla mountain pass, one of the most challenging climbs on the tour with gradients of over 18%, followed by a long descent toward San José de las Flores. Third place is a close call between Francisco and Pablo and Carlos and Alberto. Sofía Zárate is in Chalcatongo, taking a recovery break and analyzing the condition of her knee after a poorly placed plate.

Termina día 3 y Edna manteniendo buen ritmo llega a CP5 Casa Toronjiles, Zaira se encuentra en la bajada de Buenavista a Independencia (puedes dormir en la agencia municipal) y Paola en la dura subida del Vergel, a muchos corredores jamás se les olvidará esa subida.

En modalidad duplas Osvaldo y Juan Pablo están por coronar el puerto de Ixtlayutla, una de las subidas más retadoras del tour con rampas de más del 18% para después hacer un largo descenso hacia San José de las Flores y la tercera posición está peleada entre Francisco y Pablo vs Carlos y Alberto 

Sofía Zárate se encuentra en Chalcatongo tomando un descanso recuperador y analizando la situación de su rodilla por una placa mal puesta.

Nelson Chavez & Emmit Rivera reached the finish line for the second time in this 2025 edition. They set an excellent race pace, completing the finish line in 63 hours and 22 minutes, which represents an improvement in their times. This year, the difficulty level of the gravel segment increased, and the finish line is a little further away, yet they still managed to lower their time by almost half an hour.
The pairs remain active, advancing at their own pace.

Edna remains in the lead among the women, and Zaira continues in pursuit, breaking away from Paola. The three are crossing the true hell of the south, where gravel is intense.
Sofia in Chalcatongo is gathering strength to follow Yosundua.
The only women's pair continues to cross the route at their own pace and advance forward.
Some runners have already withdrawn from the race for various reasons, from technical failures, injuries, or fatigue.

Nelson Chavez & Emmit Rivera alcanzaron la meta por segunda ocasión, en ésta nueva edición del 2025, marcaron un excelente ritmo de carrera logrando la meta en 63 horas y 22 minutos lo que significa una mejora en sus tiempos ya que en ésta edicion subió el nivel de dificultad del segmento de gravel y aún así consiguieron bajar su tiempo por casi media hora.
Las duplas siguen activas avanzando a su paso con ahínco.

Edna sigue en la delantera femenil y Zaira sigue en la persecución separándose de Paola, las tres  van cruzando el verdadero infierno del sur donde el gravel se vive con intensidad.
Sofia en Chalcatongo tomando fuerza para seguir a Yosundua.
La unica Dupla femenil sigue cruzando la ruta a su rutmo y avanzando havai adelante.
Algunos corredores ya han abandonado la carrera por diferentes motivos, desde fallas técnicas, lesiones o cansancio.

Alvin Escajeda finished third in the official Le Tour de Frankie race in 2 days, 12 hours, 29 minutes, successfully completing the race, consistently maintaining his place among the top finishers. Nelson and Emmit are close to reaching the finish line, although this final stretch is considered one of the most difficult due to the heat and the steep, flat slopes that drag on.

Edna remains in first place, almost reaching the top of the penultimate climb, from Vergel upwards. Behind her is the second-place pair, Osvaldo and Juan Pablo. Paola Berber remains in second place, passing through Santiago Yosondua, and Zaira is in third place, leaving Chalcatongo. Sofía is a few kilometers from Chalcatongo.

Alvin Escajeda tercer lugar oficial de Le tour de Frankie finalizando en 2 días 12 horas 29min concluyendo satisfactoriamente la carrera manteniéndose siempre entre los primeros lugares.

Nelson y Emmit se encuentran cerca de llegar a meta aunque este último tramo, de los considerados más difíciles debido al calor y unos repechos y planos que se hacen eternos. 

Edna continúa en primera posición casi coronando el penúltimo puerto, del Vergel hacia arriba, por detrás de ella, la segunda pareja Osvaldo y Juan Pablo.
 Paola Berber continúa en segunda posición pasando por Santiago Yosondua y en tercer lugar Zaira saliendo de Chalcatongo.
 Sofía se encuentra a algunos kilómetros de Chalcatongo 

Third place / Tercer lugar 

[Mauricio](https://www.instagram.com/mauu_la?igsh=ZXh1Z251cmtpbXFw "MauInsta") Lara finished in second place overall in Le Tour de Frankie with a time of 57 hours and 22 minutes, putting in a huge effort to try to catch Sebas and leave those chasing him behind. A tremendous performance from the start, with technical problems that he had to overcome along the way, in order to climb positions until reaching this goal.
Behind him is Eduardo Cuarenta, less than 20 kilometers from the finish, who is trying to escape the pursuit of Alvin Escajeda.
The women remain in the same positions, starting with Edna, then Poli, and then Zaira, who is looking for opportunities to secure the podium, which she will defend this year.
The duos are also maintaining their pace: Nelson and Emmit have a lead of more than 120 kilometers over Osvaldo and Juan Pablo; and the fight for this uncertain and young third place is between the pair Carlos and Alberto, who are just 12 kilometers ahead of Francisco and Pablo, who will fight to raise the pace. The only female pair, Carolina and Argelia, have covered 430 kilometers, giving their all.
Sofia Zarate is going all out, giving her all and enjoying the race. She has covered 455 kilometers and knows she will continue to make steady progress.

Mauricio Lara llegando en Segundo lugar geberal de Le Tour de Frankie con 57 horas y 22 minutos con un gran esfuerzo realizado para tratar de alcanzar a Sebas y dejando atras a los que lo venian persiguiendo.
Un enorme desempeño desde que salió de la meta con probelmas técnicos y que tuvo que ir resolviendo en el camino, para poder escalando posiciones hasta lograr ésta meta.

Detrás de él Eduardo Cuarenta que está a menos de 20 kilómetros de la meta, quien está tratandode escapar de la persecuciónde Alvin Escajeda.

Las mujeres siguen manteniendo las mismas posiciones empezando por Edna, despues Poli y atras Zaira buscnado posibilidades para lograr el Podium que defenderá este año.

Las Duplas también se mantienen con su ritmo: Nelson y Emmit bajando a la costa van con una ventaja de mas de 120 kilometros de Osvaldo y Juan Pablo; y la lucha por esta incierta y joven tercera posición entre la pareja Carlos y Alberto que van a tan solo 12 kilómetros por delante de Francisco y Pablo quienes lucharán por subor el ritmo. La única pareja de mujeres Carolina y Argelia llevan 430 kilómetros recorridos, dando lo mejor.

Sofia Zarate va con todo su corazón dando lo mejor y gozando el porceso de la carrera, se encuetra con 455 km recorridos y sabe que se mantendrá avanzando firme.

Second place and counting / Segundo lugar y contando

Sebastián Miranda completes the Tour de Frankie for the third time with a time of 2days 6 hours 17min, finishing at 7:20 a.m.; meanwhile, Mauricio Lara remains cycling in second place with 40 km to go, followed by Eduardo Cuarenta with 95 km to go. Today, we'll be welcoming several runners to the finish line. 

Edna González remains strong in the race, leaving CP4 Chalcaltongo behind. Paola Berber moves into second place, still on the way to Chalcaltongo. Zaira Contreras, behind her, in third place, continues her pursuit of the podium.

Sofía Zárate is in Tamazulapan, gathering strength to continue through the Mixteca mountains.

In pairs, Nelson and Emmit crested the Ixtlayutla climb and are descending toward San José de las Flores, facing the final climbs and possibly the flat stretch that seems like an eternity. Osvaldo and Juan Pablo remain in second place, still resting in Chalcatongo, and Carlos Quiroz and Alberto Taquex are in third place, starting from Tamazulapan, gaining ground.

Sebastián Miranda corona el Tour de Frankie por tercera ocasión con un tiempo 2d 6h 17min llegando 7:20am; mientras tanto Mauricio Lara continúa pedaleando en 2do lugar a 40km de meta y por detrás Eduardo Cuarenta a 95km de meta; el día de hoy estaremos recibiendo varios corredores coronando la carrera.

Edna González continúa firme en la carrera, dejando atrás el CP4 Chalcatongo, Paola Berber se coloca en segunda posición aún en camino a Chalcaltongo, Zaira Contreras, por detrás de ella, en tercera posición continua en movimiento en busca del podio. 

Sofía Zárate se encuentra en Tamazulapan tomando fuerza para continuar por la Sierra Mixteca.

En duplas Nelson y Emmit coronaron la subida de ixtlayutla y descienden hacia San José de las Flores, para enfrentar los últimos repechos y probablemente el tramo plano que se hace una eternidad. En segundo lugar se mantienen Osvaldo y Juan Pablo, aún descansando en Chalcatongo y en tercera posición Carlos Quiroz y Alberto Taquex partiendo de Tamazulapan ganando posiciones. 

Day 3: Paradaise. No pain, no glory. / Día 3: El paraíso. Sin dolor no hay gloria 

ENGLISH

The always difficult second day begins to take its toll and put everyone in their place. Some riders have decided to drop out, while others are making up ground.

Sebastián Miranda, the new leader, is making his presence felt and demonstrating his experience as he leaves CP5 Toronjiles behind. Heriberto is beginning to feel the consequences of not having rested, and Mau is chasing behind, maintaining the pace and firmly securing every kilometer.

Nelson and Emit maintained their position behind the leaders, welcoming in the night as they completed the El Vergel-Buenavista de Juárez mountain pass. Edna González regained the lead as she faced the Mixteca mountain range between Tamazulapan and Chalcatongo de Hidalgo. Tania Arana, in second place, showed courage and maintained a very good race pace, arriving in Tamazulapan, close behind Sofía Zárate. Zaira finished third, 26 km from Tamazulapan.

In fifth place among the pairs are Carolina and Argelia, the only female pair, 30 km from Huajuapan, facing the race and the weather positively.

El segundo día siempre complicado comienza a pasar factura y a poner a cada quien en su lugar, tenemos algunos corredores que decidieron abandonar, algunos otros remontando posiciones.

Sebastián Miranda, el nuevo líder, haciendo sentir su presencia y demostrando su experiencia dejando atrás el CP5 Toronjiles, Heriberto comienza a sentir las consecuencias de no haber descansado y Mau por detrás persiguiendo mantiendo el ritmo y asegurando cada kilómetro firmemente.

Nelson y Emit mantienen la posición por detrás de los líderes, reciben la noche terminando el puerto el Vergel-Buenavista de Juárez.

Edna González recupera el liderato enfrentando la sierra mixteca entré Tamazulapan y Chalcatongo de Hidalgo, en segunda posición Tania Arana demostrando coraje y manteniendo un muy buen ritmo de carrera llegando a Tamazulapan muy cerca de Sofía Zárate. Mientras que Zaira en tercera posición a 26 km de Tamazulapan. 

En quinta posición de parejas, se encuentran Carolina y Argelia, la única pareja femenina a 30kms de Huajuapan afrontando la carrera y clima de forma positiva. 

Second night, second chance  / Segunda noche, segunda oportunidad 

Reaching CP4 in Chacaltongo is no easy task. The kilometers and meters of elevation gain accumulated in the body are already being felt, and now the mind enters a crucial moment. This is where many decide not to continue, feeling exhausted and knowing that the gravel road that awaits them and the infernal temperatures will continue to rise without sparing anyone. Others will risk continuing at their pace and as far as their body and mind can endure the true hell of the south, a challenge that not everyone dares to take.
This is where the race begins! And it begins with a descent that helps you take a breath and encourage the heart to continue for more, but once Santiago Yosundua reveals a bit of the horizon of the Sierra Mixteca from the height where you can see the beautiful Esmeralda waterfall and at the bottom of the canyon, a river of humid heat that can dehydrate the adventurer and that is only the beginning of the toughest gravel climb of the route: El Vergel. This dirt climb of more than 20 km begins after they've already covered 560 km so far, and will climb from 900 meters to 2,400 meters in altitude, with gradients of up to 19% (average 6%) in sweltering heat and and in the elevated part a refreshing forest.
The technical descent will continue until they reach Rio Verde, where the climb to Ixtayutla begins. In Mexico, we say "gravel doesn't caress," and descents aren't for resting like they are in road cycling. Here, technique is crucial for descending quickly and gaining time in a race.
The final 26-kilometer gravel climb from Ixtayutla to the top, another great challenge to overcome, is the icing on the cake for the Infierno del Sur gravel. Hydration will be the key.

LLegar al CP4 en Chacaltongo no es tarea fácil, los kilómetros y metros de elevación acumulados en el cuerpo ya se sienten, y ahora la mente entra en un momento crucial, aquí es donde varios deciden no seguir al sentirse agotados y sabiendo que el camino de gravel que les espera y las temperaturas infernales seguirán incrementando sin perdonar a nadie, otros se arriesgarán a seguir a su paso y hasta donde el cuerpo y mente aguanten el verdadero infierno del sur, un reto que no cualquiera se atreve a hacer.
Aquí es donde la carrera comienza! Y comienza con una bajada que ayuda a tomar un respiro y alentar al corazón a seguir por más, pero una vez que Santiago Yosundua muestra un poco al horizonte de la Sierra Mixteca desde la altura donde puedes ver la hermosa cascada Esmeralda y al fondo de la cañada un rio de zona de calor húmedo que podrá deshidratar al aventurero y que es solo el inicio de la subida mas dura de gravel del recorrido: El Vergel. 
Èsta subida de terracería de mas de 20km de distancia que comienza cuando ya recorrieron 560km hasta el momento y donde subirán de desde los 900 metros a los 2400 metros de altitud con rampas de inclinación de hasta 19% (promedio de 6%) con un calor que aprieta y en la parte alta un bosque que refresca.
Seguirá el descenso técnico hasta llegar a Rio Verde y donde comenzará la subida a Ixtayutla, en Mexico decimos que "EL gravel no acaricia" y los descensos no son para descansar como sucede en el ciclismo de carretera, aquí la técnica es crucial para bajar rápido y ganar tiempo en una carrera.

La última subida de 26 kilómetros en gravel de Ixtayutla y hasta arriba, otro gran reto para lograr, la cereza del pastel en el gravel del Infierno del Sur, la hidratación será la clave.

After 30 hours of pedaling with 53 minutes of rest, Heriberto Trejo takes the lead. Just as they reach CP4 in Chalcaltongo, a long and tough descent to Vergel and a tough climb toward Buenavista de Juárez lie ahead. Mauricio and Sebastián got up early and continued on the move, devouring the kilometers.

Nelson and Emmit, in tandem, follow the overall leaders, entering the most fun part of the route from Tamazulapan to Chalcaltongo.

Zaira Contreras, very close to reaching Huajuapan, remains the women's leader. Edna is in second place, a few kilometers behind the leader, and Paola Berber and Tania Arana are in third.

Sofía Zárate is in Acatlán, ready to face a long day in the mountains.

ESPAñOL

Tras 30 horas pedaleadas con 53 min de descanso Heriberto Trejo se convierte en el líder,  a punto de llegar al CP4 en Chalcaltongo, viene un descenso largo y duro al Vergel y una dura subida hacia Buenavista de Juárez. Mauricio y Sebastián madrugaron y continúan en movimiento devorando kilómetros. 

Nelson y Emmit, en dupla, tras los lideres generales, entrando a la parte más divertida de la ruta de Tamazulapan a  Chalcaltongo.

Zaira Contreras muy cerca de llegar a Huajuapan se mantiene de líder femenil. Edna en segunda posición a algunos kilómetros de la líder y en tercera posición Paola Berber y Tania Arana. 

Sofía Zárate, se encuentra en Acatlán lista para afrontar un día largo y de mucha sierra.
