Christine was able to finish the Middle Mountain in 2022 and 2023 and it seems as if she wants to complete the triple.

__116 Estelle Gerbier__
First Female Finisher at Paris Brest Paris. Will she aim also for First Female Finisher at Mittelgebirge Classique ? 

__117 Hanna Lutz__
Last year she gave herself a DNF, this year unfinished business is on the cards.
Her impressive annual kilometres suggest a lot. 

__118 Marei Moldenhauer__
Last year's TCR winner is also on the list of favourites here.

__01 Constantin Backmann:__
2023 finished in 2nd place at the 2nd edition of the Mittelgebirgeclassic. 

__10 Christoph Fuhrbach__
We don't need to say much about Christoph, he's a legend. He knows the Palatinate and the Vosges like no other, he has the experience and the will to give everything at such an event.

__15 John Sherlock__
The only starter from the UK brings a lot of experience with him. He came 9th at the B-Hard last year and finished in the top 10 twice at the Panceltic Race. 

__25 Fabian Guschigk__
The name may not be familiar to many people, he crashed at Northracewestphalia and had to finish the race in 2nd position. He finished the 2023 Tcr in a solid 39th place.
At this year's Unknown Race he was standing in knee-deep snow on the Sölkpass and had to realise with regret that he would not make it through. At the time of the DNF he was 2nd behind Lucas Becker.

__40 Stefan Barth__
Stefan does a 2nd one year after the DNF. The author of the ultracycling book wants to finish his unfinished business.

__52 Gyger Oliver__
The Swiss feels at home in the mountains. On his list are the Hope1000, 2x 12th place at the Three Peaks Bike Race and a 27th place at the Tcr last year.

__56 Bruno Wicht__
Another Swiss with some experience, last year he took 2nd place at the Spanish Race Kromovoj, finished the Tcr in 45th place and the 2 Volcano Sprint in 4th place.
His to-do list for 2024 includes the Via Race and the 2VS again.

__68 Tobias Fuchs__
If Tobias wants to improve his position from last year, he will have to work hard.
Last year he finished 5th and added a 7th place at the TCR 2023.

__70 Adam Bialek__
I don't think I need to write much about Adam, I can't even list all his victories, that would go beyond the time frame.  He is definitely the favourite of the event.

__71 Riccardo Kuhar__
The Croatian has taken part in the Ironman World Championships three times. He brings a win at B-Hard 2022 and a solid 12th place at Transpyrenees 2023.

__94 Philipp Meyer__
Philipp's learning curve is steep, in 2022 he could not finish, in 2023 he finished 2nd with Sebastian and Constantin. 

__102 Georg Walther__
The Munich native is motivated. In 2023 he won the Northracewestphalia and finished 4th in the ThreePeaks Bike Race.

__113 Paul Niehoff__
The Dresden native has booked a subscription for the top 10. 
He has finished the Race Through Poland 3x in the top 10, the 2Volcano Sprint in 7th place and the TCR 2023 in 11th place. Paul is definitely one to watch.

__114 Joshua Hampp__
Joshua rode to 5th place in the Three Peaks Bike Race in 2023. 
It reads as if the tpbr finishers have found a new race among themselves.

The __3rd__ edition of the __Mittelgebirge Classique__ starts in a week's time.
Time to take a look at the race, the organisers and the route.

For the third time, the race starts from Neustadt an der Weinstraße and the lovingly created route around the organisers __Markus Kroell__, __Christian Englert__ and __Martin Waldenberg__ was run again shortly beforehand for finalisation.

The route of 1066km and 20,170m (according to Komoot) leads from Neustadt an der Weinstraße, as in previous years, from the Palatinate Forest through the Rhine plain to the Black Forest. At 430km, the first checkpoint with food and a bed is ready.
After the Rhine plain, the route leads into the Vosges mountains to climb to the highest point of the Grand Ballon and then back up to the northern Vosges on many beautiful, quiet roads.
The second checkpoint is at 666km and also offers food and a few places to sleep.

The last 400 kilometres of the race include many smaller climbs up to the final ascent to Hambach Castle in Neustadt an der Weinstraße.

MittelgebirgeClassic 2024 Tracking and Commentary: Back for its second edition, this event crosses between Germany and France and takes riders over 40 mountain passes in the middle mountains (Mittelgebirge) ranges of the Palatinate Forest, Black Forest and Vosges.
