Traka 560km Adventure: The Ultimate Ultra to Gravel Challenge

Due to extreme conditions on the ground the Traka ADVENTURE 560km race has been cancelled.

The athletes are continuing on a mix of strategies: moving to the 360km (tracking provided here), not racing or riding the route unofficially.

As we are uncertain of each athlete's motivations we're keen to allow the organising team at the Traka continue to manage the event. We won't be providing live commentary but will roundup the 360km event next week with some reflections from the riders.

Here is the statement from the Traka team:

"Today we were supposed to kick off the exciting week of The Traka with the anticipated 560 km distance start. Unfortunately, after careful consideration, we have decided to cancel this distance.

Although our hearts are filled with frustration for not being able to showcase the beauty of Girona as we experience it 95% of the year, nature had other plans. The necessary but intense rains have forced us to make this difficult decision to ensure the safety of all participants.

While we are disappointed, we are also motivated and working hard to make the most of the upcoming sunny days and good weather that await us for the other distances. 🌞🚴‍♂️

We deeply appreciate your support and understanding at this time. We await you with open arms in Girona to enjoy together all the planned activities during The Traka.

Europe's largest gravel race, the Traka, is gearing up for an exciting new Adventure spanning a challenging 560km. Blending the realms of gravel riding and ultra-cycling, this event promises to be an enticing test of endurance and skill, attracting some of the biggest names in ultra-racing and gravel racing. 

Set against the backdrop of Girona, a gravel haven nestled amidst the hills the route tackles the Alpine terrain of the Pyrenees and local gravel. Riders will tackle 7000 meters of climbing over deceptively short distances. 

As anticipation builds for this epic challenge, let's take a closer look at the riders to watch and the excitement surrounding the event.

# Riders to Watch

As the race unfolds we'll dive deeper into each rider, but for now, some names to keep and eye out for.

__Cynthia Carson, Cara Dixon, Quinda Verheul, and Lael Wilcox__ headline a formidable lineup of in the women's field. With each boasting impressive accolades and a hunger for challenges, they are sure to inspire awe as they take on the Traka Adventure. 

__Sherry Cardona and Gereon Tewes__: Fresh off their TCRNo9 victory, this dynamic duo will undoubtedly be ones to watch as they tackle the gravel miles. With a wealth of experience and a knack for strategic racing, will they emerge victorious once again?

__Ulrich Bartholmoes and Sofiane Sehili:__ A stalwart of ultraracing, Bartholmoes is no stranger to pushing his limits. Despite the shorter distance compared to his usual routes, his presence adds an extra layer of excitement to the race. Sofiane, another name that springs to mind for ultra-racing success, has been focussing on an array of different disciplines in the past year, could he conquer the gravelleurs? 

__Robin Gemperle and Liam Yates:__ These riders bring their own unique strengths to the table, from Gemperle's readiness for chunky elevation to Yates' expertise in short-distance races. Their performances will undoubtedly shape the dynamics of the race.

As the countdown to the Traka 560km Adventure begins, excitement and anticipation is building among riders and spectators. From seasoned ultraracers to gravel enthusiasts, the event promises to be a thrilling showcase of endurance, determination, and camaraderie.
